Aloha, I am Casey Chibirka, the photographer behind the lens. I am a Wedding and Fine Art Portrait Photographer. Specializing in capturing love and family.
My love for photography began the traditional way. I purchased my first film camera in middle school and signed myself up for darkroom photography classes. Being in the darkroom and creating art through my lens gave me a sense of self. I knew that photography was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I later studied Photography in Philadelphia at Antonelli Institute of Art & Photography and fell even more in love with the art.
After finishing my studies, I established roots on Kauai. It was here on the island I learned about the Hawaiian principles of life, mana, being a principle that really stuck out to me. And is now a quality I live by.
As a Kauai Portrait Photographer I feel very blessed. From the soaring cliffs of the Na Pali Coast to the rich tropical rainforest, the natural beauty around me constantly fuels my creativity and is expressed in my style of natural lighting and true, genuine emotion.
Whether you are visiting, or a local I would be honored to document your special day. I am proud to announce, Casey Chibirka Photography now offers both film and digital. Why? Because film has a timeless beauty and digital is unlimited. Ask about our Kama'aina Special Offers!
In Hawaii, mana is the energy, or power that flows through all things. For example, the land, the ocean, plants, rocks, people, gods and goddesses. Mana is an internal power and spiritual energy. It is gathered from the elemental forces of nature and is embodied in an object or person. You have a chance to gain or lose mana in everything that you do. Enjoying harmonious relationships with those around me, and being of service to families and couples helps me gather mana. Between Hawaii's spirit of aloha and mana I am connected to my art and giving through an energy and sincerity that only this island can provide.
Casey is an extremely talented and professional photographer who has worked photographing my children on numerous milestones of their life including birth announcements and holiday cards. She captures both the beauty of my girls and the scenery! Her results are remarkable, I am beyond satisfied with the results and many of my friends have utilized her after viewing Casey's amazing work. Casey is not only an excallent photographer, but a truly remarkable person. Her calm, friendly and professional attitude enchances her shoot. What could be a disatrous experience with uncooperative babies and toddlers, Casey manages not only to get the job done, but the finished product is a work of art. Casey can capture the beauty or essence of even the most difficult child. She is a gifted artist who I would highly recommend."
"We had a very large family photo done while on vacation and it turned out amazing- exactly what we wanted! She also took photos of our individual families and sent them to us on a well edited beautiful wooden thumb drive. I only wish I lived closer-- I'd hire Casey for all my photography needs."
What an outstanding creative photographer Casey is! She helped me relax and call forth very natural expressions. Casey has a calm, unprentious way of being that allowed me to just be myself. She was so encouraging during the shoot it invited the best I could be. Casey is incredibly gifted. I recommend her highly if you are visiting Kauai, or living on the island. CALL Casey you will be glad you did.. you will have photographs for the rest of your life.
Casey Chibirka Photography views the world of digital photography complementary to film photography, not a replacement. We use the best of both. We are strong believers that the learning process of capturing photographs and understanding light begins in the darkroom. The darkroom is a tool we utilize to better understand what light can and cannot do. It is through the darkroom that has made Casey a better photographer.
Film offers a timeless beauty and digital is unlimited, which is why we embrace both. Melding the two disciplines is our cream and sugar. The film is scanned at a very high resolution and tone is adjusted on the computer. What is produced is a razor sharp image with emphasis on the tones. This process is done on the computer through the latest image editing software. It is only with the knowledge gained from the darkroom that allows us to apply this method to the digital negative that makes the final print as appealing as it is.
Your photography session will be relaxed, fun and enjoyable. I love to capture how families and couples naturally interact and enjoy each other. During an average session we will spend an hour, or two capturing photos, allowing breaks for children to have snacks or rest. Photo sessions are never rushed.
On the day of your shoot make sure you are well rested, that goes for kiddos too. Eat something and stay well hydrated! If you don't have a location in mind I can recommend a few places and make sure we choose the perfect spot for you.
Decide on a theme for your photo session. Do you want to capture your dressy, traditional style? Or your casual, playful, island style? When putting together outfits for a large group of people try to coordinate instead of match. You are always welcome to bring a change of clothes to add a multiple look.
